I received the following email today from the Chair of the Department of Theater Arts at the University of Louisville.
Andy Carroll was good enough to share with me your email address after getting approval from Jon Peede of the National Endowment for the Arts to do so. I am seeking the non-exclusive right to use a portion of "Force Provider" in a play I am creating, which I will also direct. It will premiere at the University of Louisville in 2009 for six performances in our Thrust Theatre (162 seats). I believe "Force Provider" could make a strong scene at the beginning of Act II. I believe that personal testimony is powerful and that every human being has stories of interest to others. I am planning to use such testimony from written stories and interviews I have conducted. Needless to say, I was rather astounded . . . not only that he wants to use it, but that he wants to use a humorous piece about toilets. On top of that, Andy Carroll, the editor of Operation Homecoming where my stories were published, and I are slated to conduct a writer's workshop at the St. Louis VA hospital in May. I'll keep you posted when more details become available.
